Center fire Handgun Balloon Shoot
August 21st 9:30am - 1:00pm Registration 9:00am - 9:30am Pre-Competition Safety Training 9:30am - 10:00am Competitors 17 years of age or younger must be accompanied by an adult and all un-licensed shooters will be directly supervised by a licensed club member. Competitors arriving after Safety Training is finished will not be allowed to compete. Competition 10:00am - Noon Lunch and Awards to follow Here is the the way it works: You can use any "Standard" handgun chambered for any PISTOL caliber (.25, 32, 9mm, 38, 40, 41, 44, 45, 50) but no black powder. You can not rest your firearm on the shooting position structure, you must use a one or two hand hold. There will be 5 balloons of different colours mounted on a target stand about 30 feet from the shooting position. You will have about 3 seconds to aim and shoot a coloured balloon as called out by the range operator. Hit the most balloons and win a prize of your choice from our fabulous prize table. The cost of this event is $15 and includes lunch. Spectators are welcome and they can purchase lunch if they wish. The competition continues until there is a clear winner. Typically it takes about 5 - 7 rounds to establish the winners. Here is what the targets look like:
If we have a large turn-out, this event could last well into the lunch hour. WARNING: Balloons do not like to be hit and they will use the wind to move out of your line of sight or they will sway as to make it difficult for you to hit them.
